We set out to do the Bajaj Auto corporate headquarters project with a two-word brief - 'modernize it'. Located in the quaint neighourhood of Akurdi, Pune, it was not difficult to achieve the desired result. The idea was to create the feeling of openness and space. Masses of concrete gave way to glass and steel throughout the building and white - the colour of purity - secured predominance. The façade was accordingly redesigned to accommodate the mandate - reflective glass on white structure. We redesigned the interior to maximize the impact of their grand three floor-high atrium lobby and compliment the same with indirect lighting and use of marble. Their 500-people capacity auditorium is a talking point among corporates.
